Crypto markets stayed choppy on Monday as traders weighed Iran-related geopolitical risk against fresh selling from large corporate Bitcoin holders.
Bitcoin edged up 0.57% to around $63,470, while Ethereum slipped 0.76% to $1,853 and XRP eased 0.48% to $1.07. Dogecoin and Solana also posted modest gains, with live prices continuing to fluctuate throughout the day.
Iran Tensions and Corporate Selling Kept a Lid on Gains
Bitcoin actually touched an intraday high of $64,020 before pulling back to around $62,000.
Part of the pressure came from Strategy Inc. (formerly MicroStrategy), which disclosed selling $105 million worth of Bitcoin, even as its own stock rose 1.69%.
On the geopolitical front, President Trump said talks with Iran remain uncertain and warned that only a “deal” or “total surrender” remained. The uncertainty added to market volatility, with crypto prices reacting despite the lack of crypto-specific news.
Traders Are Betting on Higher Prices, Not Lower
Despite the pullback, the data underneath looks more constructive: over $240 million was liquidated across the market in 24 hours, with short sellers losing more than longs.
Bitcoin’s open interest also rose nearly 2%, which, paired with a rising price, usually signals new buyers stepping in rather than existing holders panicking.
This resilience comes even as an ongoing Coldcard hardware wallet attack has drained nearly $89 million in Bitcoin across multiple waves, unsettling self-custody confidence.
Smaller tokens like Bitway, Akash Network, and Onyxcoin posted double-digit gains, even as the total crypto market cap dipped slightly to $2.2 trillion.
Is This the Bottom? Analysts Are Split
On-chain firm CryptoQuant noted Bitcoin’s sell-side risk ratio has dropped to levels historically tied to “accumulation zones” late in bear markets, but stressed this doesn’t confirm a bottom is in yet.
Meanwhile, analyst Michaël van de Poppe struck a more bullish tone on Ethereum, saying a break above $2,000 could open the door to $2,300.
The CryptoBreakers Take: Nobody’s calling the bottom with confidence yet, and that uncertainty is exactly why the smart move here is watching the data (open interest, liquidations, on-chain signals) rather than reacting to any single headline.
